Introduction
We shall spare the legalese and give you a few simple points that you need to consider before signing up for a course at IMOSHA. Here you go:
  • About the healing arts, and what they offer:
They work, this is what we have seen, and this is what our students say, but is there any study or research that proves the efficacy of Thai Yoga Massage, Toksen or for that matter any of the healing arts? Nope – there is none, and more importantly, most organisations governing the practice of medicine and related activities such as physiotherapy and exercise consider the healing arts as a pseudoscience. Nothing is proven, while there are numerous case studies where people have benefited from it. This is where we transcend the realms of proven science, into the slightly faith-based systems – we urge you to consider this before you register for any of the courses conducted by IMOSHA, and not after.
  • About the courses:
Raghu, or any other teacher in future, representing IMOSHA teach the techniques that they have learnt at the schools they have attended, in their endeavour to learn and learn to teach Thai Yoga Massage, Toksen, Guasa, and any other healing arts courses that are offered at IMOSHA, or through any teachers of IMOSHA, at any other location. There could be more or differing techniques and practices followed by other schools – while we do claim that our teachers have completed the teacher-training courses before leading the courses at IMOSHA, we do not make any claim to be the only, or the most authentic. As mentioned in the About Raghu page, the IMOSHA course combines what Raghu considered the best aspects of the different courses that he has attended, and thus is an amalgamation of techniques.
  • What you get when you sign up:
The pricing structure at IMOSHA is for the course and what is included in the course – this entails the instruction and practice sessions, accommodation is not included unless expressly specified otherwise, as in the case of the Healing Arts Retreat, where accommodation and food is included in the programme fee. Here again, the food served is what is made available at the venue, and may not necessarily be a seven-course meal – we do our best to provide good food, but it is not in our capacity or for that matter interest to cater to the diverse tastes of our students – the primary objective of the programmes is learning of the healing arts.
  • Fees:
The fee charged for each programme is what IMOSHA expects for teaching students the healing arts. There is no computational formula for arriving at this figure. Also, some of the early registrants may receive discounts, so there may be a variation in fee charged for different students, as well as for different programmes conducted during the year. It is not up for arbitration.
  • Incidental Expenses:
While we regularly help registrants from other cities and countries with information about accommodation close to the location of the programmes, we will not be responsible for providing the same. Also, incidental expenditure such as airfare, airport transfers, local conveyance prior to or during the programme or any other incidental expenditure that registrants will incur. We try our best to help you with the right information, but we will not be liable on any count.

Certification and Post Certification

Let’s face it – the school of architecture is not responsible for the architect who causes the building to collapse because of a faulty design. Likewise, we’re responsible for teaching you the concepts and practice of healing arts but you really are responsible for what you do once you are certified. By registering for the course, you agree to indemnify IMOSHA and all representatives of IMOSHA from any and every form of litigation, damages, penalties or anything detrimental to the interests of IMOSHA.

When you register, you are expected to have:

  • Done your research in terms of understanding what the healing arts are, and have a basic understanding of the healing arts, how they work and why you need to learn them
  • Due diligence on your own health – IMOSHA’s programmes are strict regimens that require a lot of stamina and are demanding of the human body. We do not make any guarantee on your ability to complete the course, or practice it even if you complete it. Thai Yoga Massage, Toksen, Guasa and the other healing arts require a lot of physical endurance and it is not something everyone can take up. Please take advice from your doctor before you sign up. Physical inability cannot be cited as a reason for cancellation or requests for refunds.
  • The understanding that the healing arts are not proven remedies, nor does learning the healing arts make you a miracle worker. If you are going to make tall claims and write stories about how you can heal people, do make sure you do not say that IMOSHA taught you – if you do so, you may be liable for damages to us because it would be defamation and dilution of the IMOSHA brand identity. At IMOSHA, we teach you how to practice the healing arts – and the healing arts help recipients on their journey to convalescence – they are not substitutes, replacements or alternatives to conventional treatments, and any claim as such would be not based on scientific research, and be subject to legislations such as the Wonder Drugs and Magical Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act of 1954 in India, or similar laws in other countries. You are on your own here, and IMOSHA will not be liable if you make such claims.
  • A sense of responsibility and accountability – One of the reasons we call it Thai Yoga Bodywork, instead of Massage, is because of the unfortunate associations with not-so-pleasant activities and indulgences that have been attributed to the word “massage”. We expect all of our students to show respect for the human body and mind, and not behave in a manner that would be unbecoming of a certified practitioner of the healing arts. The reason this aspect seems vague is because we promised to spare you the legalese, but if you were to cause disgrace, loss of face or any detrimental effect to the reputation of IMOSHA, we will be forced to take legal action to protect our interests. We are good people here – let’s remain that way, be kind and respectful, just like Buddha showed us how.

Your behaviour and conduct

As much as we would love to have no rules and regulations binding our students, this world has proved itself to need otherwise – so with a heavy heart and equal reluctance, we have emphasised our zero-tolerance policy to behaviour that harms students, teachers, the premises or the values that IMOSHA and its partners stand for. So you will be required to:

  • Be nice – it’s not difficult and it really makes everyone happy, especially yourself. Having said that, you shall treat everyone (including animals, pun intended) and everything at IMOSHA and its partner locations, where you shall learn, practice, or stay.
  • Be classy – we don’t want to start doing gents only, and ladies only batches. We would like to consider ourselves and our students capable of conducting themselves with propriety and not make life difficult for the other sex. So we would be really disappointed if any of you indulged in harassment, unsolicited advances, discrimination, abuse, or any form of mistreatment with your fellow students, teachers, or any other staff associated with IMOSHA or any of the partner centres where you may be attending your training programme.
  • Be respectful – to each, their own. We expect you to accept the fact that we are here to learn healing arts, not to judge each other in any manner. It would be sad if we were to hear of you not being at peace with yourself, your fellow students, staff, or the laws of the land. When in Rome, be Roman – it’s actually best for what we’ve set out to achieve – a certification in the healing arts.
